PARTY! PARTY!

It's time to rev up and get ready for the annual Iron Butt Association's Daytona (Florida) area Bike Week Party.

In order to provide better service, give us a bit more breathing room, and expand the length of the party, the party will once again be held at a facility in JACKSONVILLE, Florida approximately 80 miles north of the Daytona race track. The party will be on Friday, March 6, 2009. Check in begins at 1:30 pm in the hotel lobby.

Last year the new format was so successful that we completely filled the entry and hallways of the hotel as we socialized before the party. This year the hotel is allowing us to congregate in the private lobby club starting at 2pm so many of us will be on site all day Friday!

For those of you who attended the National Meet in Tulsa, you know we offered the 24 Hours to Tulsa ride in. I personally presented a certificate to each rider who finished a certified 24 hour IBA ride and it was a lot of fun. The response was overwhelming so we have decided to make that available this year at the Bike Week Dinner. All the details for what we have named the 'Orange Blossom Special Ride In' are on the registration site. In addition to being a fun option for current IBA members who are riding to Florida, it's a great opportunity for new folks to get their first certificate and join us for the festivities at our annual dinner.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. We are going to serve a buffet style meal of tossed green salad, Italian pasta salad, Waldorf Salad, Green Beans Almandine, Red Bliss potatoes, Steamed mixed vegetables, rice pilaf, sirloin beef tips, chicken and assorted desserts. This should offer flexibility for everyone to come and go and not be fenced in waiting to eat. A cash bar will be available for those wishing for a drink. We will do a short presentation at 8 p.m.

Additionally, we have blocked 150 rooms on-site available for those attending the party at $76 per night including a full breakfast. Once your registration is complete, we will forward you the link to obtain the negotiated room rate available only to attendees.

Space is limited! In order for us to accommodate as many people as possible, there will be no last minute admission at the door. We pay for the use of the facilities, so even if you do not want to eat, everyone must pay to enter. Everyone that wishes to attend must register BEFORE February 25, 2009 and since we expect the party to fill quickly, we suggest you register as soon as possible. Only Iron Butt Association (IBA) members, their guests or those registering to do a certified ride-in may attend the party. Unfortunately, space is limited and once we are out of room, well, we are out of room....

The cost of the party is $43.00 US per person. To reserve your entry to the party, you will have to register on line and pay via Paypal. Please do NOT send cash or checks to the IBA as your registration will not be able to be confirmed. Please understand, with our limited staff, the overwhelming paperwork issues of taking checks and logistics of reconciling payments for 300+ people makes using Paypal the only workable option for us at this time. So far it's been really successful but I do know that there are a few folks who have had some problems with Paypal in the past; what they've done is to ask a friend or family member to make the payment on their behalf. Just make sure that your name is in the body of the message so that we know who to credit for the payment. Several other members have decided to give Paypal another chance and have been pleasantly surprised. But please, if you use a paypal account attached to a name different from the registrant, make a note of it in Notes box on paypal so that we may attach the payment to the correct name.

The registration web page can be found at:

Daytona 2009 Registration

If you have problems or questions when registering, please contact Lisa at lisa@ironbutt.com Your confirmation letter along with exact directions, the hotel room reservation link and contact information will be mailed to you after you register.

I look forward to seeing each of you again at the party in Jacksonville!
