Are you looking for a new riding challenge? Maybe you have heard the muted whispers in dark corners of Ed Otto's stunning 1995 Iron Butt Rally ride on a tiny Honda Helix? Or Jerome Byrd's string of 1,000 mile days on a variety of scooters or Jonathan Tan's oddball SYM Citycom 300i he brought to the Florida Legends 1000 and Matt Penttila's 2011 1,000 mile day on an even-we-wonder-if-it's-a-scooter Honda PS250 Big Ruckus?

But nothing tops 1,000 mile days like Jim Brown on a Honda C90 Cub or Australia's Peter Hogan on a Honda CT110.

In recognition of the Iron Butt Association's insane scooter riders, the IBA has designated May 2 - 5, 2014 International Scooter 1000 Insanity weekend. So run to your computer, fire up a search on All of Craigs List, call your friends, call rental agencies and get your hands on a fun scooter for the oddest, most fun 1,000 mile day you have done in years!

For those in North America, this event coincides with the IBA Meat Lovers 1000 in Chicago, Illinois; this is a great chance to get two rides in one - the Meat Lovers 1000 and your special Scooter 1000 Insanity!

Everyone finishing this ride will receive a very special certificate and sticker for this exciting event.

There are two versions of the Scooter 1000 certifications. The Scooter 1000 Insanity for anyone riding in and doing 1,000 miles in 24 hours on any size scooter (step-through motorcycle), and the Scooter 1000 Insanity GOLD for those doing the same ride on a scooter 300cc or smaller.

Do you have what it takes to complete this challenging ride?!

NO pre-registration is required. If your scooter stars are in alignment, go for it! Application and rules can be found at: SaddleSore 1000 rules. After your succesful ride, if you can scan your doucments, they should be emailed to Howard Entmann at IBAScooter1000@gmail.com
