After your ride is verified, your certificate will be sent to you as a
printable pdf file. You can either print this file on your color
printer using high-quality 24 pound paper, or simply save the file in a
folder on your computer.
If you want to receive a printed paper copy of your certificate from
the IBA via snail mail, you may request this option for a $5 increased
fee for postage and handling. You will receive your pdf certificate
much faster - usually two to three weeks faster than if mailed.

So all in all, the pdf version is cheaper, faster, and easier.
And the ‘official printed’ IBA version is always available for a fee if
you ever want it in the future.
