Background:

The overall idea of the ride is to ride from furthest corner to furthest corner of the contiguous USA--Key West FL to Blaine WA or reversed. This ride is just over 3,600 miles following the most direct route possible. Although not required, it is within the spirit of this ride that the rider set foot in the Atlantic Ocean at Key West and in the Pacific Ocean at Blaine.

The iconic SaddleSore 1000, is described on the Iron Butt Association website. The rules for that ride are similar, and valuable relevant information is provided there.

Documentation:  See here

DBR - Dated Business Receipt

A DBR is a machine generated receipt with the date, time and LOCATION on it.  Check it - do not assume it is correct.  A receipt with an incorrect time/date/location is worthless.  Check and re-check.

You may qualify for additional IBA Certifications during this ride.  Go here for information about nesting rides.

Note:  Riding through the Keys presents the greatest time challenge to the rider. Heavily patrolled with just about zero tolerance for any amount over the posted limit of 30-50mph means even if you time this section to miss heavy traffic, you will NOT be making any time here! You must obtain a Dated Business Receipt (DBR) at the start and end of your ride,  as well as along your route every 350 miles or less.

Your official ride duration is determined from the starting and ending DBRs.  PLEASE check these documents and make sure the time and date are correct!

Spotwalla.com is strongly recommended but not required.

If you cannot get a DBR, you must take a picture, including your motorcycle, to PROVE you were in each location.  Remember it is YOUR responsibility to prove your starting point, route, and ending point.  Spotwalla goes a long way towards this proof.

Merchandise:

There is no additional merchandise for this ride.
