Full Moon Fever 1000 Full Moon Fever Awards Version
No. 1.0
©2026, Iron Butt Association, Sheridan, Wyoming The Moon moves around Earth in a steady 29.5‑day rhythm, rising full each month like a lantern hung in the night sky. Since the earliest nights it has carried a sense of magic and mystery. Lovers gaze at it. Wolves howl at it. Iron Butt riders see it as a reason to roll out into the night and chase a thousand miles under its light. Definitions In the lunar calendar, a full moon marks the moment when the Moon is fully illuminated as seen from Earth, and every month includes a full moon. The specific date of each full moon varies from month to month. The exact date shifts forward or backward each month based on the lunar cycle. In some years, a thirteenth full moon occurs, known as a Blue Moon. This is a series of Full Moon 1000 SaddleSores with special graphic certificates awarded for each named monthly moon, plus the Blue Moon. Read the rules for the iconic SaddleSore 1000 on the Iron Butt Association site. The rules for this ride are similar and you will get valuable background information.
