Background:

The Ride Around the 48 (RAT48) is roughly 11,100 miles. 

Read the rules for the iconic SaddleSore 1000 on the Ironbutt Association site.  The rules for this ride are similar and you will get valuable background information.

Definitions

DBR - Dated Business Receipt

A DBR is a machine generated receipt with the date, time and LOCATION on it.  Check it - do not assume it is correct.  A receipt with an incorrect time/date/location is worthless.  Check and re-check.

Rules


--RAT48                                    You have 30 days to complete the RAT48.  You must start and end at the same
                                                   location.

--RAT48 Gold                           You have 20 days to complete the RAT48 Gold.  You must start and stop at the
                                                   same location.

--RAT 48 GOLD Insanity           You have 20 days to complete the RAT 48 GOLD Insanity; AND
                                                   You must complete in-state SS1000 rides in each of Washington, California,                                                     Florida and the New England 1000.  You must start and stop at the same
                                                    location.

--Lap of the 48 (LAP48)             There is no time limit.  You must prove that you visited each of the required
                                                    cities.
                                                    You may visit these cities in any order.        


You may not leave the United States except for safety reasons.  If you do leave the United States, you must re-enter the country at the same point you left it.

For the RAT48 rides, you must visit each of the listed jurisdictions, in order.  You may ride in either direction - clockwise or anti-clockwise.  You must obtain a DBR in all of the cities listed.  The receipt MUST indicate the city, date and time.  Check your receipts.

You may start any any of the locations listed, but you must finish at that same location.

Nesting Rides--You may nest rides throughout this journey.  Detailed ride planning is suggested.  You may also want to talk to the IBA ride coordinators about your plans.

For the RAT48 rides, you must obtain the receipts in the order listed.  Either order (clock or anti-clock) is fine but they must be in order,  e.g.  West Quoddy MUST come immediately before or after Sault Ste. Marie.  For the Lap48 ride, you may visit the required cities in any order.

You may take any route you like - but remember you may not leave the United States and the required DBRs must be acquired in order. 

Your official time is determined by the starting and ending receipts.  PLEASE check these documents and make sure the clock and date are correct!

Spotwalla.com is required. 

Remember it is YOUR responsibility to prove you visited all  required stops in the required order.  Spotwalla goes a long way towards this proof.

There is no additional merchandise for this ride.
